Compatibility mode

Hi all, Windows 7 64bit, CDX7.1 64bit.

I just had windows throw up a message saying something along the lines that CDX7 has not been working properly and that it was now in compatibility mode.

I have been experiencing a lot of issues with X7 as well as finding X7 redraw is very slow.  Probably slower than X5 was esspecially in screen refresh rates when moving or altering complex images or groups.  Editiing complex paragraph text is a killer watching it refresh for every tiny change.  I use Adobe 5.5 PS and Indesign on client files and it has no such issues.

I have been trying to figure out if it was my PC / system.  Ive run all the usual driver updates, virus malware, HDD clean and defrags (2 x 2 TB raid drives 20% full) etc etc with no improvement.

Now I get this compatibility message.  The program is no better or faster.

Win 7 64bit, CDX7.1
Intel Core i7 3.2ghz
6gb DDR3 ram
Graphics NVidia GeForce GT240 1 Gb ram - runs 2 monitors

I hate the idea of it running in compatibility mode.  How do I get it to revert.

Any ideas on why its running so damned slow?

Corel Draw texture fill

And theydisappeared from thetexturesbox.
When I try toenter them again,the application islockedandcannotdo anything.
What can Ido?

Have Smart Fill Work on Bitmaps.

I am not sure were  feature requests should be placed, but I am going with here.

It would be nice to have the Smart Fill work on bitmaps like Inkscape does.  All in all it is a small thing I suppose, but I am throwing it out there.

macro button not always working

I REALLY would like to know why the macro icon button does not always start the macro when I press on it.  Sometimes, when I press the button, nothing happens and a strange outline appears floating below.  What is this all about and how do I fix it?

Add to Document Palette adds color plus entire Default Palette

I've searched through the forums and while I found plenty of topics related to the 'document palette' I found nothing about this particular issue. And since it has happened to me quite often as of late, I thought it was time to see if there is an explanation. 

I keep "document palette" on as a default so every time I open a document I see both my default palette on the left and my document palette on the right. More often than not, when I add a color to the document palette, it adds not only that particular color but an entire palette of colors along with it. Sometimes I can tell that it's the default palette that is being added, sometimes it's just a large palette of colors. I tried to narrow it down to doing it one way or the other but it doesn't seem to matter. Today I was using the eyedropper and adding a color from task bars at the top of my workspace. Sometimes I use the 'add color from selection' option and it happens, sometimes I use the 'add colors from document' option and it happens. Sometimes I am simply changing the fill of an object to a color that is already IN the document palette and it happens. So no rhyme, no reason. Because sometimes it actually works like it's supposed to.

While it doesn't cause a crash, or even a stop in work it is pretty annoying to have to go in a clean up the document palette every other time I work on a job. If there was an 'undo' that worked for those kinds of actions. I wouldn't even care, but once this happens, the only way to undo it is to manually remove every color you don't want.

I am working in CorelDraw X6 on a Windows 7 machine.

 

Anyone else experience this?

Grouping/ungrouping collapses layers

I think I did something unintentionally awhile back so that now every time I group or ungroup objects on a layer, the layer they are in collapses.  For the life of me, I can't find anything on what keystroke I may have done (if it was a keystroke)  that resulted in this happening.  It's not a critical thing, other than being annoying.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Does X7 have a better 3D feature yet similar to Adobe Illustrator?

If not.  Why?  3D in Coreldraw is very dated and primitive and AI's is very good....especially the vector mapping around the 3D object's surface.  NOT just bitmap texture, but vector mapping!  Good stuff!

Black separates into cmyk four colours in pdf prepress CDR X5

Im having hassles with a document that is created in 100%K and with a greyscale bitmap, when I publish to pdf prepress native, the black is separated into four colours and the greyscale bitmap also turns into cmyk. When I import the pdf back into corel the colour is still correct 100%K and greyscale, but the printshop I send the document to as well as another reprohouse receives the file with black changed into four colours and the greyscale bitmap is turned into cmyk. I tested another document using pdf prepress cmyk  and the repro house also received the document with the black changed into four colours cmyk. This is not the first time I have this problem, I had the same problem a year ago and since then have been using pdf x1a to publish my documents for printing. However, when publishing to pdf.X1a the greyscale bitmap becomes lighter and I understood from my printshop that pdf x1a is not a good type of pdf to use for printing?

Is there a solution for this?

Problems with exporting AI files when placed images are involved.

So I have a bit of a problem which I am wandering if can even get worked out?

 

I created a design in Corel X5 that has PSD and TIFF images in it.  The client needs them in an AI file.  When I exported the file the images did not come in correctly they were pixelated and broken up.

 

I think this is a common problem and is there anywhere around it for it to be able to be exported correctly as an AI file.  I really don't want to lose this job/client?

Text with contour saving question

 New to CorelDraw and im sure this is a very simple question for most but I cant figure it out.

 I am trying to make a file to use on a plotter/cutter, If I start by making a word then go to "effect", "contour" and make a background for the text then go to "object", "break contour group apart", then I export, save as or publish to .pdf file I get the following when I open it in the cutter program to cut.

1. PDF  when I look at it as a thumbnail it looks great but if I open the file with the cutter program there is nothing there or its just the black text and not the red background.

 

 Anyone that can tell me what i'm doing wrong?

Texture fill not printing

Texture Print failures

Hi there, 

I am attempting to print a metal texture fill, when printed it changes colour. it is on cmyk settings, matching my printer settings. It seems to sporadically change between cmyk and rgb though, i am getting a pinkly purply hue over the top, I've tried changing the print settings and i am confident that it is not a problem with that process, however if anyone has had issues with that i would like to hear about it

can't import a file to X4 that was created from X7. any single vector shape or text will not import to X4. made sure exporting parameters are all set the same way.

Hello~

 

First, I appreciate all of the great feedback regarding the last post about this issue:)

The problem is still happening.  When I move a menu, there is a small rectangle that moves with the menu.  It also moves in a jerky fashion. 

i have completed all updates: video card, Corel and Windows (to 8.1). Could there be an incorrect setting that is causing the problem?  One that is related to menu behavior?
