How can I do this

I am wanting to create the effect, like the attachment,  that looks like it has been stitched onto a garment. I am wanting to laser cut the material on the outside and then do a pass on the inside with less power to look like stitching. Hopefully someone out there can point me in the right direction of a macro that will follow the contour of the text or graphic and not have to draw each stitch individually.......... any help is appreciated.
