CorelSuite X6 upgrade policy?

Hello:

I am new here and would like to introduce myself. I have been using CorelDraw since version 3. Through the years I stuck with CorelDraw 9, in about 2003 finally invested in the Adobe full suite. I always used CorelDraw because of what many members will understand  as "the easy, quick ability to do almost anything in graphics". I really only purchased the Adobe suite because of Indesign since Corel Ventura got dropped. I also purchased and used Corel Painter for some minor work.

I am once again involved deep in graphics. I cannot run CorelDraw 9 on Win7. It is a pain trying to run a virtual XP which can support CorelDraw9. So, to not bore you people to tears, I downloaded CorelDraw X6 and it runs fine on my Windows 7 x 64 bit. I was shocked to read that the only way to upgrade to Coreldraw X6 is to own X4, or X5. IS this correct? This certainly does not seem to reward any loyalty to those who supported Corel in the past. Never mind that Painter owners also get no breaks from Corel in CorelDraw X6 upgrades.

I have Adobe Illustrator but prefer CorelDraw. I think that fair is fair, so this may be the time to completely go to Adobe? So do you Corel users think this upgrade policy is fair? Or is this an indication that Corel may not be here in two years?

Thanks,

Mitchel
