Unable to reproduce happenings from a webinar

I Was followling along with this webinar.

I was interested init for putting a cut line around some bitmap images.
I use Coreldraw X4 and its photo-paint.  (I tried with X6 also but couldn't not reproduce it in either)

Starting at about 19:00 minute mark to about 21:00 is part I was interested in. I tried several times and I get it all but at the 20:55 mark he left clicks the NO FILL and gets his color back from the original bitmap.. When I do that I just get a outline of my image and its all white inside.(no till)

So I haven't figured out why I don't get my color back when I left click. Is it the corel version ? (tired both X4 n X6) the color pallette ? I default to RGB.
Is he doing something else that nots mentioned and I can't see ?
