X6 Crashing

I am using a home edition of X6 running on a 64 bit version of Windows 7.  I have 2 problems which may or may not be related which are:

1. The application crashes and two events show in the windows log, one for .Net and anger for DrawHome
2. I cannot find any styles either by the menu Window, Dockers, Styles or with Ctrl & F7

I have seen some posts dating back to 2012 suggesting X6 may be unstable with 64 bit versions of windows.  Does anyone have experience of this? 

It is possible problem 2 may be me as I am a new kid on the block.
