Color Management for those upgrading from X4 or older versions

I have been following the forums for some time and a reoccurring discussion are color issues from older versions of CorelDraw and files created in older versions when opened in X6.  The usually are in two areas actual color management issues and color palettes.

Please understand that with X5 Corel made a major commitment to professional level ICC compliant color management.  Also Corel changed how color palettes were handled in X5 and resolved some issues where Corel was allowing users to do some things that were improper.

I am not a technician that uses palettes extensively so I refer those issues to others, however the true color management issues I feel I do have a reasonable grasp of the flow.

X5 and older versions allowed the user to create work flows that while seeming to work they can be incorrect in terms of ICC compliant color management and therefore difficult to impossible to reproduce in a professional ICC color managed application.

I highly recommend that for those who are critical with their concern for color that you learn exactly what the color management settings in  X4 and older versions were doing to your files before you attempt to bring them into X6.

I have a combo color management boo available at www.graphictechnology.com and I will monitor this post to respond to questions.  However please understand that some problems caused by non-default color management setting in X4 and older versions can be complicated.
